Members drumtechdad
RumStik nails it. What I like is that it is as easy to use as the plastic straps--I'm done fiddling with the cords--but it is also very supple/flexible. The snares land on the reso head the same way every time. It's polyester, so it's wicked strong, too. BTW, you can get the stuff (5/8" seems about right for most snare wires) at any fabric or craft store, or the fabric department of a department store. A couple of bucks will buy you a lifetime supply. They even had camo the last time I picked some up!

Members Jeck
dumb question here, but how would you attach the ribbon that you are talking about? i have only dealt with the plastic straps.
Members ermghoti II
cord. doesn't slip. Cord also suspends Puresound snares off the head, making for weak and delayed snare response with infinite sustain. Grosgrain for me.

Same as the straps, just double the ribbon around the snares an clamp 'em.
Members BeakerArk
Bacon-topped chocolate chip cookies. . . that's GENIUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but back to the thread. .. I'm a strap guy. Always hated the cords, especially those metal ones w/ the plastic covering. . . definately not genius. Have never tried the grosgrain, but I'm gonna now. Fabric shop just a ways down the road from me.

Members Shasta86
I have only ever used the plastic strips. (and they seem to be slipping a bit, should I switch to ribbon?)

Members Jack Thumper
I use cord or old shoe strings cuz it allows natural movement of the snares against the reso when it resonates.
Members 1001gear
I use strapping tape stuck to it self. One redo in 10 years on the main drum. I bought a roll of ribbon (white) to see what the raves were about but it'll have to wait for the tape to give.

Lotsa hot chicks at the fabric store. This'll slay 'em. Tell 'em you want a yard of white felt for your bass drum, too, they go all wiggly.
