Members zzzxtreme
hi guys, I recently got a few mics, AKG perception 170 (2x) Audix D2 (x2) - works good on rack toms Audix D4 (x1) - has not arrived yet, so I'd be using Sennheiser E602 for floor tom Audix i5 (x1) - snare currently I have AT2020 (x2) for kicks, I'd just use an SM57 and trigger it. I've heard some people do mic their ride, and I'd be using the AT2020 for it. and the other AT2020 as a room mic. so AKG Perception 170 for OHs, would ORTF be good ? there aren't really good illustrations on how to set it up. so I drew this as I understand it, is that ORTF method ? or is there an easier way for stereo effect? should I use ORTF anyway since I mic my toms and ride ? thanks in advance

Members Carminemw
Kinda like this...granted you don't have these types of overheads, but look at the concept and not the gear...

Members manoeuver
I use a recorderman setup for my overheads. highly recommended. you use a piece of string to place both mics equidistant from both kick impact and the center of your snare.
