Members leepmeister Posted May 18, 2005 Members Posted May 18, 2005 I'm doing my work...which consists of placing probes on a silicon wafer and pulsing circuit components until they break... But while the tests are running, I COULD be reading more about circuit design (this is an internship afterall)... But I spend about half that time on here. I don't THINK my boss minds...much. And to answer my own poll...1-2.
Members basshunter Posted May 18, 2005 Members Posted May 18, 2005 None. It happened once or twice over the years, but not often. My office is all the way at the end of the room opposite the door. I can hear people as they walk towards me. Once someone gets close enough, I know they must be coming to see me and I toggle to something work related. Voila!!! See how hard I'm working!!!
Members Bonoman Posted May 18, 2005 Members Posted May 18, 2005 Only 1 or 2, but that's because my boss doesn't come into my office very often.
Members greenshag Posted May 18, 2005 Members Posted May 18, 2005 {censored}, my boss posts here and ebassist:D
Members The Insomniac Posted May 18, 2005 Members Posted May 18, 2005 I love being my own boss but sometimes it's hard getting stuff done.
Members Geddy'sFavHeadache Posted May 18, 2005 Members Posted May 18, 2005 bout 3-5 times so far today. they really don't mind, cause there is nothing for me to do really. it helps pass the time talking to you monkeys:p
Members miles to go Posted May 18, 2005 Members Posted May 18, 2005 About as many as I catch him on ebay.
Members SA Rios Posted May 18, 2005 Members Posted May 18, 2005 I always have a window open that I can switch to in a heartbeat. My desk also faces out to the room with my back to a wall so I don't have to worry about anyone sneaking up on me.
Members Weirdocat Posted May 18, 2005 Members Posted May 18, 2005 er.. haven't been caught yet! but whilst we're on the topic of people looking over your shoulder.. does anyone get really pissed off when people do that? Like.. lean over your shoulder when you're checking e-mail and stuff and go "who's that? What does that mean? I can't believe you're still talking to ____" it makes me so mad!
Members leepmeister Posted May 18, 2005 Author Members Posted May 18, 2005 Unfortunately I face the wall...so sneaking up on me is a matter of course (I'm in a big room with lab eqipment everywhere so it also obscures his approach ;-))
Members sludgebass69 Posted May 18, 2005 Members Posted May 18, 2005 My desk is out in the room facing the door so I've got plenty of time to see who is coming into my office.
Members Texas Noise Factory Posted May 18, 2005 Members Posted May 18, 2005 I just sent my boss the Oswald band photo. I'm lucky I got a cool boss.
Members megadan Posted May 18, 2005 Members Posted May 18, 2005 I alt-tab to my mail program about 10 pr 20 times a day..
Members niomosy Posted May 18, 2005 Members Posted May 18, 2005 Never. Alt-Tab is my friend and I always make sure it switches to a Word document of some kind of documentation I'm working on It also helps that my surfing system pretty much faces my cube entrance (so people only see the back of it, not what I'm doing) It helps that we've got raised floors in here which make a fair amount of noise. I can generally hear people coming before they get into my cube and switch before they get here
Members sheepdog Posted May 18, 2005 Members Posted May 18, 2005 my boss doesn't care......I AM the boss! (I voted BOALG as a result)
Members L-1329 Posted May 18, 2005 Members Posted May 18, 2005 Well, I have physically seen my boss two times this year, so I vote "0". Helps when their office is 500 miles away!
Members Zamfir Posted May 18, 2005 Members Posted May 18, 2005 I'm suing myself for harassment, invasion of privacy, and stalking.
Members Thunderbroom Posted May 18, 2005 Members Posted May 18, 2005 At my college job, the answer is never...though it really doesn't make any difference as long as I'm getting my work done. At my other job, I'm the boss...so it doesn't make any difference there either.

Members no-logic Posted May 18, 2005 Members Posted May 18, 2005 I run the truck fleet where I work and my boss doesn't bother me much. It's a great job. So I don't spend much time on non-work related sites at work. You know, because I like my job.
Members NeonVomit Posted May 18, 2005 Members Posted May 18, 2005 As for the question, BOALG because I'm a student and I work at a bar part time, no internet connection there, therefore no HCBF
Members Bluesman0511 Posted May 18, 2005 Members Posted May 18, 2005 Who are all these smartasses that want us to believe they never get caught on HCBF by their bosses? Oh wait, I get it... They are unemployed or they work at the 7 - 11...
