Members TCEDDIA
John Wetton's name doesn't usually come up too often in discussions of great bass players. His work with early King Crimson is simply amazing. Killer Pbass tone, great choice of effects and ballsy chops as well as a great voice! I know he went on to join Uriah Heep and Asia but his work with KC is some of the greatest in early prog rock. Does anyone know if he is still alive and if so, what is he doing? Members bnyswonger
I believe he might be having a cocktail.
Members SpaceGhost
He's got a few solo records but they're nothing like his early KC style stuff. He's mostly a singer/songwriter these days. The Great Deceiver Box Set is my bible, amazing improv for the casual listener.
Members speddling
actually he just came off holiday, has a small tour going, an autobiography out, etc. Quite a busy fellow. Also a much talked about player.... he has the most wicked tone! You left out his band with Holdsworth between KC and Asia: UKJohn Wetton- Vocals, Bass GuitarsEddie Jobson- Keyboards, Electric ViolinsBill Bruford - Drums, PercussionAllan Holdsworth- Guitars I just snagged 2 killer late 70s concerts from them last month

Members Thumper
Wetton comes up frequently on HCBF, usually as an example of a player with a killer P-bass tone. Listen to his work on King Crimsons 'Red' recording. It's the real deal
Members sunburstbasser
I picked a couple of Asia records up a few weeks ago (vinyl!), and have Red. And yes, Red=good P bass tone.
Members bholder
I can never quite decide for good which "era" of King Crimson is my favorite, but his time is always in the running.
Members ethyl glycol
Some of my students just played some shows with him; mostly KC and Asia stuff. He sucked. The students were re-teaching him how to play his own songs.

Members bnyswonger
I know that da witch (for you newbs a dutch female bassist - she used to live here) had a very bad experience with him in either a professional or personal capacity...(she also did stage managing). Something to do with ackeehol. I saw him live on the Larks Tongues tour and he kicked major ass...he was a big influence on me.
