Moderators Kindness Posted August 13, 2007 Moderators Share Posted August 13, 2007 WTF difference does it really make? It makes a difference in ergonomics. Your technique cannot be the same at the two extremes.
Members Darkstorm
Wears instrument low with it pointing more skyward rather then horizontal.

Members Optimus Prime
where's the Tim C option? That's about where mine is. It's between Vic Wooten and Dirk Lance I would say.
Members Super Bass
I think my playing position is somewhere between Dirk Lance and Victor, but closer to Dirk. Thats the way I wear it too.

Members D Aussie
I nearly always play with my bass touching the floor. Occasionally I will lift it up, but I mostly find playing most comfortable with the bass actually touching the floor.

You must really be a goat. ... that whole Flea ... low-slung bass ... ball-protection. I figured that if a goat were to play bass, yes, the bass would have to be touching the floor. Members xOriginalNinjax
Depends on how I'm playing (style). Tap/fingers - Wooten. Pick - Flea/Dirkish. lately, it's wooten height.

Members rummy
So, I finally got a nice wide strap for my bass. I noticed I like it low now, like between 3 ~ 4. My right arm feels much more comfortable, 'cause they're not bent as you would be if you were to have it up higher. I'll have to experiment. Members Fran da Man
For this bass anyways, notice how far to the right i wear this one. In any case, i like mine high, not Dickens high though; at my age (or any age for that matter) ya gots to protect them wrists. The reason for me having it so far to the right is even playing the C on the 5th string i have ZERO wrist strain.
Members Dark Slide
Pretty high. It is comfortable, but I am sure I don't look very cool playing it.
