Members ThrashmetalErik
i cant see myself dropping the cash for a tub poweramp even if i had it. I liek SS power and Tube Pre although im looking into an ALL SS pre to go in muh rack as well. I like the tube because it has the growly-ness. but i like the fatc that SS is so clean and precise. Members REMUS
I've owned what you could consider allot of amps, encompassing SS, hybrid and tube. And as far as it goes I don't have a definite preference, just what ever sounds good to me or suits the situation really, my favourite amp so far has been the marshall jcm800 though. Members mister kyo
i'm going to have to say SS. easier to mantain and transport, and you can usually get plenty of headroom for a significantly lower price for guitar, though, i use tubes almost exclusively when it comes to high volumes. there are some good SS guitar amps out there, but i prefer tube. Members been_effected
ARGH all this talk of mesa heads lately makes me want to buy one!! *runs to the nearest wall and bashes my head against it* no gas, no gas, no gas... anyway back OT, I like hybrid the most atm, but im probably spoilt because I can swap or mix tube and SS
Members Death Hands
I dig a nice, clean, transparent solid state rig. Tubes add too much color for my liking.

They don't have to add colour, but they are usually made to so that people don't complain of their amps not being "tubey enough".

Well, in my experience, even in a ground state of "push", tube amps color your sound. In my experience, they're instantly biased towards thick, thuddy(not excessively, normally) lows, and a warmth that I don't need. Haha. That's just me. I like to get what I put in, for the most part. Amplification is just volume, for me.
Members Roguetitan
I Love tube amps until it is time to load ,set up tear, down and unload:freak:that is why I love 2 wheel dollies as much as I love tube amps;)
Members Darkstorm
Solid state. Cause is much more hifi sound. Except for very very expensive tube amps, no tube amps really qaulify as hifi sounding.
Members hans_the_double
my brother gets some excellent tone out of his hybrid mesa m-2000, but i haven't been satisfied with anything else since i got my tubes. i had my guitarist record his guitar parts for our new stuff through my rig, and i think he's hooked now, too. Members DevilRaysFan
Power: Solid State is FinePreAmp: Depends - For finger-style, a Solid State Pre is fine but for slap-style I like the natural compression that a tube pre gives - and it warms it up as well-- so, I actually like a hybrid
Members 82Daion
I love some tube amps, but they're usually not my cup of tea-the all-tube Traces and old SVT's are the exception to the rule there. I usually find tube heads to be too muddy for my tastes, unless I'm playing rock. For practical purposes, I prefer pure solid-state, which is why I sold my Sunn-the tube pre made things a little too furry. We'll see how the GK works.
