Members GRANKOR
went to a guitar shop to ask about new pickups for my J and the guy in there recommended Delano pickups, the ones with the huge pole pieces. I've no experience with these and obviously don't want to drop a load on money of them with no idea how they sound. Are these fat, loud pickups? Members guitargod0dmw
Ask James Hart. He loves those pickups. I've heard good things about them, but I've never played them.

Members Super Bass
REMUS has them in his gum-wrapper bass and he says that they're nice. I'm sure he'll chime in here. I'm looking at them also for my up and coming jazz project.

Members GRANKOR
I certainly did. Are these a bad idea? I told the guy in the shop that's what I wanted to do
Members bassman1956
They're supposed to be quite good. Have even considered them for a re-pup job sometime. But, I haven't been able to hear a set myself. Also, I think those large pole pieces look baaad, especially on the PJ set.
Members Super Bass
bad in a good way or a bad way? vaguely on topic but can anyone recommend a pickup for a jazz with a lot of mids and highs? I like my sound pretty bright.
Members GRANKOR
haha, Fender 75 reissue pickups! I like the huge poles BTW
Members James Hart
I like the huge poles BTW Me too, but I bought mine because they are the same design / construction as my 7 string MM style, just in P & J size / casing.

Members Super Bass
Hmm... yeah I have EMG's in one of my basses and I like the tone but I don't know. I'm looking for something passive for this new one. I don't know about seymours, they're pretty pricey for what they are. Even Delano's are cheaper for me to buy than Seymours! Members Poltergeist
yeah, but delanos usually have a warmer tone, no?
Members justinbass
Bartolinis are out of the question, I want to stay passive I recently played a jazz bass with passive Barts. It sounded great.
Members James Hart
yeah, but delanos usually have a warmer tone, no? Delanos have extremely wide frequency response and very quick transients... every little detail of your playing comes out.
Members REMUS
My Sandberg came standard with Delanos and they produce a very stable, detailed, high quality sound, really rich and creamy... on the other hand, if i'm totally honest they don't do what your asking as well as the barts, which have also been mentioned imo. I would take Delano pups over barts anyday for a gigging bass, but for a particually deeply voiced pup set... can't go wrong with barts
