I learned to play the Trombone last weekend.

It was fun. I found it very similar to the bass. The slide all the way out is a fourth interval down.

 

I caught on pretty quick. I can now play the starwars theme song, happy birthday, jingle bells and other little tunes.

I went from trumpet in elementary school, to trombone, both slide and the more rare B-flat valve variety. That was indeed a rare bird, as I've yet to ever see another instrument like the one I played.

I think he means an actual valve trombone, rather than one with a trigger. Something like this:

 

But yeah, trombone's quite fun.
