Members A*X*7
O.k. so I thought this would be a good thing for everyone to share. After I switched from a 4 to a 5 string, the low B just seems a little too fat.The Rotosound SM665 uses .125 .100 .80 .60 .40The spacing is at .20 increments till you get to the low B. it jumps .25?So would it be more uniform to have a .120 on top?I have even seen some Fender strings 7250-5L at .115 .100 .80 .60 .40 ?Would this make the low B too small to slap? or hold a solid note?(it might just flop around too much)????Lets talk about it. Members willsellout
I like TI powerrounds. They are thinner than normal strings. I normally like a 5 string set that ends in .120 Dan

Members bassred
I used those Fenders for years, great strings, and if you're more of a small string guy, they'll probably be exactly what you're looking for.

Members been_effected
Do you know what the stock strings are on Ibanez? If it's an Ibanez Soundgear they'll probably be Elixir, but I wouldn't know for sure, stores regularly change the strings on their floor stock anyway. I've just swapped to D'addario Pro Steels, they kick ass but they're murder on the fingers

I get 3 5- string sets for $29 as opposed to one set for $24 (and that's with my ex- employee, good buddy discount at GC!)

I've played the Pro Steels before, and they were murder on the fingers. I'm not sure how they sell those things! The DR's are nothing like them in terms of feel. They are not rough in the least. Members L-1329
DR nickel low riders, .130's. The DR Nickel Lo Riders I just strung on a bass are .45 - .125. They work great on my P/J, but they're just not enough on the Reverends.
Members T. Alan Smith
I've been quite satisfied for the past 2 years with Dean Markley SR2000 stainless tapers on my 'Ray 5. I just got a set of Ken Smith stainless tapers to try...don't have 'em installed yet.
Members chubrocker
I really prefer DR's on my 4 string, but as long as the B is .125 or even .120 I'm not as particular on my 5er. .130 is just too tight on my 5er---feels like the B is super tight compared to the other strings. Members countrybass
DR lo-riders. .45-.125 I like Hi-beams too, but I set my action VERY low and the lo-rider do not buzz out like the Hi-beams tend to do for me. Probably because the Lo-riders are stiffer.
