O.k. so I thought this would be a good thing for everyone to share.

After I switched from a 4 to a 5 string, the low B just seems a little too fat.

The Rotosound SM665 uses .125 .100 .80 .60 .40

The spacing is at .20 increments till you get to the low B. it jumps .25?

So would it be more uniform to have a .120 on top?

I have even seen some Fender strings 7250-5L at .115 .100 .80 .60 .40 ?

Would this make the low B too small to slap? or hold a solid note?

(it might just flop around too much)????

Lets talk about it.

each 5er demands different strings. the SR5--EB power slinkies, of course

The spector rebop: currently enjoying D'Adarrio chrome flats

Schecter stiletto diamond: Rotos or Ken smiths

The franken 5:

ken smiths-- seem to go well with EMG DC40's

as far as size -- 130-45

Do you know what the stock strings are on Ibanez?

If it's an Ibanez Soundgear they'll probably be Elixir, but I wouldn't know for sure, stores regularly change the strings on their floor stock anyway.

I've just swapped to D'addario Pro Steels, they kick ass but they're murder on the fingers :(

DR's (Hi-Beams and Lo-Riders) .45 - .125

TI Jazz Flats .43 .56 .70 .100 .136

+1 on the DR's, although lately, finances have caused me to use Hartke strings. I get 3 5- string sets for $29 as opposed to one set for $24 (and that's with my ex- employee, good buddy discount at GC!)

You should try some DR stainless strings. I've played the Pro Steels before, and they were murder on the fingers. I'm not sure how they sell those things! The DR's are nothing like them in terms of feel. They are not rough in the least.
