Members s4001
Fender seems hell bent on going out of business. I'm curious to see how long the hikes last.

Members Last in Line
Hmm... I was actually considering buying that as a backup bass, but if the price has gone up, then it's not worth it to me anymore.
Members Jesse Neil
One of my local music shops still has one in the $800 dollar range (at least they did a week and a half ago). I thought about buying it and putting it on eBay. I checked eBay, and it seems a bunch of other people had the same idea. There were a bunch in that price range. Members s4001
Definitely not. There's scads of used ones out there for much less. Huge production numbers /= high price.
Members GreaserMatt
The current price for one of those basses is nuts. My buddy has an early one; it cost half as much & is built much better than the current model...

Members jrkman
They're not a bad bass but they were barely worth the price before. There's no way in hell I would pay the new price. Damned things not even made in the U.S.

Damned things not even made in the U.S. I thought the neck was the best damn neck I ever felt on a Fender. I did not think the P/U's were anything special and the body just didnt feel right to me. its worth 600 at very most.....

Members Kaesh
I got one for 600$ new (with the coveted F neckplate too ) - best 600$ I've ever spent. I have no idea why is Fender storming up the prices so hard - do other manufacturers do this as well? I am not really keeping track anymore.
