Cliffnotes: They're extremely powerful, extremely low-noise, and have essentially zero distortion from 20 Hz to 20 KHz, even at full output power. They can also be connected to an extremely broad variety of load impedances. They are quite unlike most amps designed for instrument amplification. The guy was a bachelor and made tons of money, so I suppose it was easy enough for him to justify the thing. I think he had about 40k or more tied up in the system. Unfortunately I never got to hear the thing, but I suspect it wouldn't have impressed me enough to start saving for one. Whatever blows your dress up I guess....
