When I was looking at URBs a few weeks back, I asked one of the guys in the shops if it was possible to get side dots.. he looked at me like I'd asked to borrow his wife for a gang bang..

These URB people are WAY uptight!

I put glow in the dark tape in little squares on the side of the neck where the '3' '5' and '7' positions are (or whatever they are called... frets...) so I can see them at a glance, no matter how dark the stage.

I have been known to hang out behind the bass and jam out looking at the back of the neck and going by ear for pitch accuracy.... It's fun to watch people get amazed, and I suck on URB.. I play it like an electric, I bang the heck out of some blues, though.

I think you should deliberately put the dots in the wrong positions...

Thats a good idea.

The guy in the picture has his at a note, instead of slightly behind the note like on electrics.

Personally, I wouldn't think twice of a guy who had them whether he needed them or not.

No, more wrong.

Space them evenly, like every 6 inches, or some spacing that has no relation to the notes at all -

from the nut:

6"

9"

14"

20"

27"

35"

so the spacings get larger, rather than smaller, as you move up the neck...down the neck..., no, up the neck... you know what I mean
