Sending out an email to my band with my concerns

Does anyone know what this guys problem is?

It's how I respond when some gets all bent out of shape due to what I thought was a fairly funny response. Everybody else had taken the meat and potatos, that left me with the filler.

Are you this thin-skinned with your band? No wonder you wanted to send an e-mail.

Grammar isnt my strong suit and I understand how bad grammer is a source of entertainment for some. Am I wrong for offering a retort?

Seemed like a bit of an overreaction to me. It was just a good-natured jab.

Perhaps this serves as an illustration about how hard it is to construe intent in written communication and how easy it is to assume the worst.

perhaps it was. But he did come back with some nasty names for me. So in hindsight I think a roast was warranted.

You don't know what a roast is. I've been roasted by pros.

But tell you what...we'll start over:

You need to - IN PERSON - tell the band what's what. Rehearsal is for rehearsal, not learning songs. That is unless someone's having difficulty with a song and has brought it up prior to practice. Otherwise, rehearsal is for the band to practice playing the song together. Our band is going through something similar. The most talented guy in the band doesn't learn the songs. He listens to them once, thinks this is easy, then noodles over everything. Sometimes it's in the right key, sometimes not.

We had a talk with him - IN PERSON - and voiced our concerns. He understood and has promised to get better. We'll see. We have two gigs lined up before the end of the year and if it's the same old {censored}, he's out. Period.

So, have a sit down with your band and explain the rules. That's easy enough, right?

And I won't be havening any dissention.
