Just read an unconfirmed report that Bob Babbitt has passed.

 

I'm sure many of you know of Mr. Babbitt as the man who had the unenviable task of replacing the legendary James Jamerson at Motown.

Here's a link to Mr. Babbitt playing along to his base line for Stevie Wonder's

, evidently with a student.

 

I think he played on Stevie's "Sir Duke", too...

 

There is a scene in "SitSoM" where two guys were talking about the solo Mr. Babbitt did in Dennis Coffey's "Scorpio"...
