Terry,

What an awesome story!

I'm an avid reader and I think one of the common traits my favorite authors share is the ability to develop the characters to the point where we become emotionally involved with them, whether that's love, hate, loathing, etc.

You did a great job of character development and for me that goes beyond just a physical description of their appearance, or the surroundings they live in.

For me when it's done well, I can see them in my minds eye, they become real to me. An added bonus is that you did it very quickly. A lot of published authors are slow when it comes to developing the main characters, a third of the way through the book you still can't make a connection with them.

You tell a great story, I got choked up more than once when reading it. I also got a little angry at a couple of points too.

Thanks for taking the time to write it and post it. I really enjoyed it!thumb.gif

Jeff -

Thanks so much for the kind words. It means a great deal to me that I was able to connect with you and all the others who have taken the time to comment on this thread. smile.gif

Many times while writing the story I became concerned that the style I was using was too terse and too first person. Ultimately, I decided the story (which really happened exactly as written) was compelling enough without any amateurish attempts on my part to embellish it. I'm so pleased that apparently I was able to stay out of the way of the story in the process of telling it.

I wrote this primarily to get it off my chest, but I'm happy that it resonated with some of the readers' own experiences. smile.gif

Thanks again,

Terry D.

real

Very true Terry and that is part of the reason your story is so well received. People like stories that are more like real life than unrealistic fairy tales. By the way, someone posted part of your story at another BB and everyone loved it. That's where I read it first. She only posted the first four segments then posted the link to the rest of the story that included all the other parts.

Here are some comments from the readers at the other BB:

Whoa ~ that's nice writing and hot

Those are interesting..I want to know more about Gail and what happened. I liked the part about the ritual and making love out of a **ck.

This is truly amazing

HEy! Where is the rest, now you have me addicted!

I read through his original thread, the story is actually true and he married the girl who showed up on NYE.

He's a very good writer. Thanks for posting that.

Please provide a link.
For some reason a link isn't working. It could be because of EZboard, I'm not sure but I'll just post the responses. Please don't be upset but I posted Kitty's response. It seems like you're not really ticked off about it and I thought it was a real blast from the past.

Yeah you should probably just go to the link to get the rest. I don't think I feel comfortable posting all the stories here. Although they really are not explicit. Mostly its a mystery rather than a story of sex. Its suggestive..Thats a good word to describe it.

Here's a funny little post-script to Terry's story:

I think maybe it would be appropriate on this thread to just make a little PSA (public service announcement) on the dangers of publishing autobiographical material containing personal details of those still living.

I met a lot of groupies back in the day, so I guess it was inevitable that after "publishing" my groupie story one of them would find her way to HC Forums.

THIS is the result.

And I'm sure there's more to come.

But don't freak out, nobody's gonna boil a bunny or anything, everything's cool. Kate's just having a little fun with me and I guess I owe her that, considering what I did to her.

Stay tuned.

I found a potentially embarrassing video clip that I think you all would find interesting....but I need a server to host it on.

Anyone here that could help me with that????

Thanks,

The Kitty I knew had a hard time hooking up stereo speakers. She's just trying to sweat me, probably.

Ok....sorry I am a bit computer challenged!

But here it is! It was from 1983 when T. was a star and we were together

Sorry for the poor quality, but I have fondly watched it over and over and had to transfer it to digital.

Awwww the sweet memories

Uh-oh.

KATE!!!

No worries, my love!!!!!!

It will only be embarrassing because of the *'80's*

It's supposed to be funny, OK!

Damn Kate. I wonder what I did with those topless pictures of her....

No, he didn't post them...remember he threw them out?
But, HERE is what she posted.

I'm not at all upset. smile.gif

But I would like to go over and chat with some of the folks on that other forum and get their feedback.

You really don't know the forum name?

By the way, am I allowed to know your first name? I very much appreciate you forwarding the responses to me. smile.gif

RockGirl, tell all your pals there are a bunch of really cool under-appreciated musicians here that would love some attention, new fans and groupies. thumb.gif

Just what I was thinking. thumb.gif

My plan was to go over there and introduce myself, and see if I can charm them.

And I'm thinking of starting on another story.

But first I need to know what ezboard it is. As in P***.ezboard.com, the three little numbers where I put the asterisks.

Or, alternately, the subject / name of the board.

Being married for 10 years before playing my first gig has been instrumental (npi) in maintaining an upper bound of zero on my groupie stories, but in my last band before this one we were playing at a small bar when a very attractive lady walked up to the bar on break an asked me if I was in the band, an astonishing feat of inductive reasoning considering the 30 or so people in the joint. "Yes, I am", I replied, beginning to swell up with in preparation for a male courtship display, hoping the drummer, standing next to me and five years my junior, was noticing how smooth my mojo was. "Would you introduce me to the fiddle player?" she says. The half-cough half-snicker from my right confirmed that the drummer was indeed watching and learning from his elders. This very attractive lady, while probably 10 years younger than me, was about 10-15 years older than the fiddle player. "I would, but you're too old", I responded while deflating rapidly, thoughts of male courtship display abandoned, and mentally kicking myself over the fun the drummer was going to have with me, as indicated by the increasing frequency and volume of the choking noises. Neither my martial arts experience nor my decade of marriage alone would have prevented the approaching squall, but the combination of the two had endowed me with: a) The foresight to predict it's approach before there was any visible sign, and b) the nimbleness to take one hasty step to the rear and left while ducking. What was later determined to be her Rum & Coke took the drummer in full profile. The good part is that I never had to listen to the drummer talking about what an old smoothie I am, although I couldn't resist offering to buy him a R&C at break for the next several gigs.

Sure, my name is Anita. They would absolutely love it if you posted another story. The Pit used to have several fan-fiction writers and I know they miss that. They would love it if you posted more stories, plus you will get a good idea how the female audience responds to your writing as most of the people there are girls. They're a rather eclectic group, with careers including Pharmacists, Lawyers, legal secretary's, some stay-at-home moms, you name it.

Try this link The Pit If it doesn't work I'll keep looking. Otherwise it's called the Creedpit, but don't hold that against us.LOL It started back in the day when Creed was hot, but the general feeling now about Stapp is that he's a lying piece of crap. Although Alterbridge is getting respect from most everyone there so we do know where the true talent lies since Alterbridge is all the original members of Creed with the addition of Myles the singer.

Ok, I just noticed the p067.ezboard.com in the link.

Perfect. I'll attempt to join that forum. Thanks, Anita! wave.gif

Terry D.

P.S. I reread this entire thread last night including my groupie "novel." I have never edited it before, so I tidied up a few things, including one embarrassing accidental reference to a person by both his real name and his fictitious name in the same post! redface.gif

I also noticed a distubing jump between the Red story and the Janis story. I really need to write some sort of segue or transition so that will make sense to the reader.

There are a lot of sections that would make more sense and become more interesting if I hadn't been constrained by the 10,000 character per post limit. Many times I'd finish a chapter and the length would come out 12,000 characters or more. I had to do some brutal editing which is partially responsible for the terse style.

Before your post identifying it as the CreedPit, I browsed their forums and saw several Pits so I applied for all of them.

Apparently there is one "Pit" that seems to be focused on depravity. I went ahead and requested that one as well. This morning they rejected my application; not sure how to take that. confused.gif

I guess they either don't know me very well or were afraid if they let me in I'd take over the place. biggrin.gif

Sorry, I had no idea there were that many Pit's. I'd like to share a little of the humor from over there. Scott Stapp was just married on 2/10 and on his way to Hawaii for the honeymoon was arrested at the airport for being intoxicated, beligerant, and a pain in the ass...their words. Anyway, someone photoshopped a pic of him that cracks me up.

Disclaimer: I do not think alcoholism is funny in any way, in fact it's sad and destroys lives. I merely find this picture funny.

Wow, COOL, I walk in awe of that man

************************************************** *******************************

Do you know him? I was afraid to even PM him, and I'm not usually afraid of people. even Brian and Mark I was all right with . . . but this guy knows from whence he speaks and knows what he's doing, like I said I am in awe of him!
************************************************** ********************************

I too, read the entire story and was glued to it until I finished it. It was very beautifully written and was a great read! I loved the chapter about Janis, and what he did for her.

I knew immediately that picture was photoshopped because even the holding cells have stainless steel toilets with no lid.
