Members doezer
hey all... sometimes at the beginning of solo gigs, when i dont know which way the crowd want it to go yet, i drop these type of tunes. theyre pretty mellow, but even a more up for it crowd just seems to get them and singalong.. for a few tunes at least i dunno... they just seem to set a good atmosphere. but dammit! i dont have enough of em!... any ideas..??! the rule here is theyre kinda singalong but not too cheesy - like theyre beginning of the night (when everyones still relatively sober ..! theyve got strong choruses... heres a few that work for me in this dept... anyone else?? Everybody's Talkin at me.. Harry Nilsson Sunny - Harry Webb/Boney M Babylon - David Gray (for the chorus) Candy - Paolo Nutini weather with you - crowded house (but only with a duo - for the harmonies.. bee gees - you dont know what its like jack johnson - must i always be waiting on you i know theres a whole genre of them from the seventies - i heard one the other day and said yes!! but ive since forgotten... could also do with some more recent modern ones in there too... but theyre hard to come by. more jack johnson or that kind of thing..? Members Terry Allan Hall
"American Pie" always get a good respomse, as everyone knows the chorus. Last song of the night can be "Irene Goodnight", as everyone knows that chorus, too.
Members LiveMusic
Last song of the night can be "Irene Goodnight", as everyone knows that chorus, too. Good choice! Here is Leadbelly. [video=youtube;s0aMFrhP3KU]http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&NR=1&v=s0aMFrhP3KU Here is Pete Seeger and your proverbial audience singalong. [video=youtube;ZcHLCv6sFFU]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcHLCv6sFFU But I like the lyric on Eric Clapton version much better and another good singalong audience. I wish every crowd I had was like this! [video=youtube;CZm96PKwtHc] As for AMERICAN PIE, another good choice. Lots of words, though! Pete Seeger's try on air... Members Chaff67
Drift Away - originally by Dobie Gray and was recently redone by Uncle Kracker. Goes well with both the younger and older crowds.
