Will the QSC RMX1450 be enough power for 2 Yamaha S115IV 15"cabs?

I was planning on buying a pair of Yamaha S115IV 15" cabs and the power rating is 500W/1000W.

The QSC 1450 runs 450W per channel at 4ohms. Is it a problem to run 450W into a 500W minimum cab???

What will be the drawback to this (besides having less output)?

Thanks for the help,

Scott

You have a few things messed up. First of all,the true RMS rating on those cabs is 250 watts. Also, they are 8 ohm cabs, not 4,so you have to look at the 8 ohm rating on your power amp(I'm guessing it is around 275 watts,or so) Also, the 500 watt rating is maximum program rating, not minimum. I would say you are pretty close. You could maybe get by with 300-350 watts per speaker if you were cautious.

I checked and you are correct, they are 8 ohms impedence. Yamahas specs list the power rating as 500W program and 1000W peak. I'm not sure what RMS is so I don't know the difference.

But if the speaker runs 250W at 8 ohms, the RMX1450 runs at 280W at 8 ohms. So as long as I run less than 250W I'll be OK? Would I be better off with the RMX850 (200W at 8 ohms)?

Thanks for the help!

The 1450 will deliver about 450 @ 4 ohms or 225 per speaker, close to the 250w RMS rating. It's a good match for you. Some people like to to put 1.5 to 2x the power into their boxes or in this case, 375-500w per speaker. That being the case, the RMX 2450 would be ideal. I'd personally go with the RMX1450.

I have a 2450 and I run a pair of EV force dual 15" subs on one channel and a pair of JBL sf 15" mains on the other and it works and sounds great! I think in the long run you would be better off with the 2450. just my .02:D

I've run both them amps into them speakers - the RMX850 is a tad shy of enough power and the bigger amp was just right. :)

I ordered the Yam Club IV 15"s on-line and am going to over to guitar center to get a power amp tomorrow.

I was curious if I got the QSC 1850 - would it be enough to power 2 of the 15" Yam monitors on one side, and 2 15" Yam mains on the other?

The Yam 15" Clubs are rated at 1000W peak -- 250RMS. 8 ohms.

The QSC 1850 360W @ 8 ohm and 600W @ 4 ohms.

So let me make sure I have this down correctly.

2 x 250W RMS 8ohm speakers per channel = 500W @ 4 ohm per channel

So by this calculation the 600W @ 4 ohm would cover it?

Thanks,

Scott

Thanks, I actually bought the RMX 2450 alreaady and it sounds great with the Yamahas. I figure that the extra wattage will be good if I ever need to daisy chain 2 more speakers.

Thanks,

Scott

Be sure to run those off just one side. Throwing 500w into each of those cabinets will work, but one wrong move and "poof". Basically you will give yourself NO room for error if you run the 2450 in stereo with those cabs.
