Members 80zboy
OK, my keyboard player let my guitar player use his amp. I told them I didn't think it was a good idea. The amp died. For my "told you so", what technical explaination can I give as to why a keyboard amp should not be used as a guitar amp?
Members dboomer
Probably the only reason not to play guitar through a keyboard amp is you won't like the tone. Keyboard amps tend to be more like small PAs, wider bandwidth and less distortion. The amp is no more likely to blow up with a guitar plugged in than a keyboard. Members SteelyD2
Sorry to burst your bubble, but the two events are probably unrelated unless there were other factors. I play occasionally with an acoustic rhythm guitarist who plays through a Roland KC100. It actually sounds OK (not great) and has for a couple of years now. Members tlbonehead
Yep,tone is about the only reason. It shouldn't have taxed the amp more-so than a keyboard at the same volume.
