Members 2tall
Local guy has for sale (2) SR4722-A speakersand(2) SR4718-A subs Says all are in 100% perfect working condition. All original drivers.Have been used little for past several years...No Issues, only a few scuffs here and there. $1000 I did some research and it seems this may be a really great deal...opinions? I could sell the MR 935's I bought last month and maybe even make a little for those.
CMS Author Craig Vecchione Posted May 21, 2008 CMS Author Share Posted May 21, 2008 *Much* better speakers. The price is okay. Be absolutely certain everything works....don't take this sight-unseen.

Members Alan Roberts
As long as they're still original and have no issues, it's a good deal.
Members oldschooler
It's an okay deal. The speakers are at least 10 years old though. They only have quarter jacks for inputs. If it was closer to 800, it would be awesome.
Members agedhorse
Still a good deal, the drivers are standard and all parts are still available.

I'm going to listen to them first. He has amps etc. to demonstrate them. I will be looking for water damage i.e. rust...lesson learned, take handles off and look inside cab to verify original components...lesson learned, and push the subs to listen for friction noises, and or "farting"...lesson learned. Is there anything else I should be looking for?

How common is this? I've been lucky so far, but I've heard stories of seemingly decent cabs being filled with low grade non-OEM replacement parts. Members agedhorse
Reasonably common unfortunately.
Members Alan Roberts
I lived in a town for a while that had a music store that was notorious for this. They would rob speakers from cabs, replace them and then beg ignorance if called on it. Meanwhile, on the shelf beside them would be all the missing original components for sale. JBL's and EV's were prime candidates, as were Celestions from Marshall cabs, vintage tubes from amps and pickups from vintage guitars. Almost nothing in the place was what it appeared to be, but the guy running the place was one of the fastest talking shysters you ever met. You'd almost feel guilty when you left if you didn't buy something. So, be careful and double check things that you don't know the history of. That is not my ad...... I recently bought the MR935's from a local guy, and then I sold mine and made a profit. That price is a little high for those in the area I'm in. I think they went for 1300 each new.
Members 2tall
650 each is a excellent price. I think they went for 1300 each new. Yeah thats about right. I learned that one of them has a blown horn. I think I'm going to pass on them too. The horn is not that good on them anyway. Back to looking again. Members agedhorse
The horn is not that good on them anyway. Says who??? Factor in the repair (assuming that's all that's wrong) and you walked away from a very good speaker at a great price IMO.
Members 2tall
Ok the mid freq speaker is the same as was on the MR935.The blown driver is the 2425HS. How does that compare to the HF driver that was on the MR935?...better? I know the 2226H is better, and can still be purchased for around $350 new, so that is better. So are these $850 better than the MR935's that I had? Because thats how much more they will cost me...assuming the 1 blown driver is all that is wrong. Members Singin' Dave
Sorry to hear about the complications 2tall. I guess another lesson learned....have new speakers in hand before selling old ones.
