Members Gizzyboo
Thanks to all with your suggestions and reviews of mics you've used. I just bought the beta 58a for $185.00 plus tax. Will only use it for gigs. Will keep using my crappy mic for practice use only.
Members Coaster
use it at practice, its a lot different than a crappy mic. you will not 'wear it out'
Members Gizzyboo
but don't mics age with the more breathe/spit they receive?
Members Coaster
you will get many years of daily use with your beta58. clean the ball once in a while (remove the ball first). if you do kill it dead (unlikely) shure will replace it for around $65 you will need to practice with that mic because its a little less flexible with its polar pattern. also be aware that if you use wedges with this mic you may need to heed shures advice and orient the wedge/mic different. i have several beta58's and they are good mics. they last a long time. Members Gizzyboo
I also forgot to mention that i got the mic at Long & Mcquade. They gaurantee the lowest price in Canada or they'll match it. I paid $185.00. Anyone know where it's cheaper (in Canada)? I still got 30 days. Members Gizzyboo
The Canadian dollar has sunk in the last little while. Something like $0.80 to your dollar. We were doing good then it all went for a {censored}e. What else is new?

Personally, I'm not a fan of that mic at all, especially for the price. But then if you like it, that's what matters.
