Hey friends,

I just scored a free guitar from a community cleanup and I can’t believe how it sounds after a new set of strings and some cleaning. Anyone know the history of this guitar? Labeled a dw-300 but looks like a Martin D-35 when I searched an image of the back. Any insights would be great.

thanks

That is a unbelievable find! Many BCR acoustics sell well over $1000.

I am more familiar with their older electrics [having briefly owned a Seagull]; as there is no serial number, and I could not find any reference to a 'DW' series, I suggest you contact BC Rich [now in Florida].

Lovely guitar. :thu: Here's one going for $899+shipping: https://reverb.com/item/80348061-rare-1980s-bc-rich-bw-300-acoustic-guitar I'd inspect it carefully and be prepared to humidify it since it's probably close to 50 years old. Unfortunately, I can't offer any constructive comments beyond that.

Yes a nice axe, indeed, but not a 'DW-300'.  That BW has a split back, whereas the DW shown has a 3 piece back.

Alas, you're right. I can't even find a DW-300. Possibly a more expensive model owing to the fancier back but who knows? Plus the one I linked has an artificially inflated asking price, having been allegedly owned by Mitch Perry.
