SRX 718S with Crown MT2400 ?

Hi,

What I have :

1/ 02 = Crown MT-2400:

Stereo:

8 ohms = 520W

4 ohms = 800W

Bridge mono:

4 ohms = 2,070W

2/ 01 = Crown XTI-4000:

Stereo:

8 ohms = 650W

4 ohms = 1,200W

Bridge mono:

4 ohms = 3,200W

3/ 04 = JBL SRX 718S = 8 ohms each

Continous = 800W, Program = 1600W, Peak = 3200W

4/ 04 = JBL MRX 515 = 8 ohms each

Continous = 400W, Program = 800W, Peak = 1600W

I'm current use:

1/ XTI-4000 for 04 SRX 718S in stereo = 02 subs/ amp channel = 4 ohms

So I got 600W each subs.

2/ 01 MT-2400 for 04 MRX 515 in stereo = 02/ amp channel = 4 ohms

So I got 400W each MRX 515. This seem perfect match for MRX.

But, I want to change setup for this system as:

1/ Bridge MT-2400 to 02 SRX 718S = I will got 1,035W each SRX

Bridge MT-2400 to 02 SRX 718S = I will got 1,035W each SRX

2/ Then use XTI-400 in stereo for 4 MRX. But will LOW THE FRONT LEVEL DOWN at 2 or 3 oclock ( because XTI-400 at 4 ohms will above MRX continous rate )

The reason I want to change this setup is want to have more punch out of the subs.

I need advice, is it good idea ?

Thanks :)

You need to re-craft your question.

Are you asking if the subs will be louder? About 2 dB at max peak. Does that make enough difference to move the needle? Probably not.

Are you asking if it's safe? Yes, using ordinary caution.

There are other ways besides upping the output level to make subs punchy.

"....Are you asking if it's safe? Yes, using ordinary caution...." Yes, this is my question. So it's safe to use above constinous rate 200W for subs

"...There are other ways besides upping the output level to make subs punchy.."

Can you tell me which way ?

Other reason is when I use XTI-4000 with Subs, the XTI is cliping when push up level at mixer ( assume every channels signal is CLEAN because I monitor it very careful and often with SOLO channels). So when amp clipping RED I have to lower the db until no clip.

Thanks for reply,

You have 400 and 800 watt subs ... right. So 200 is well below that, no problem.

Limiters, gates, mic selection, EQ settings, speaker placement, etc.

Why do you have to lower it? Them subs can easily handle 6db into the red with or without the clip limiters on the XTI4000 engaged :).

Actually, with new setup I don't lower it. I put more power into speaker either tops or subs. I just test it tonight, Put XTI4000 to tops stereo, and put 02 MT2400 Bridge mono to 04 subs. Sound great, I get more tight bass on subs.

With my opinion, XTI series don't push tight on SRX subs. Micro Tech does.

No, I don't plan to get MRX series for subs. I use SRX for my subs. Top is MRX because it give me real acoustic sound out of drum especially snare. IF I get more XTI , I use it for Tops only.
