Members bm1977
Hi, I just bought two 50' 12 gauge Live wire XLR cables that I will use for my powered speakers. I paid $59 for each. I saw the Mogami equivalent for $99 each. Question: Should I return these and get the Mogami? After how many feet, does having high end cables actually make a difference? Thanks. Members rwhealey
Return them and buy EWI Starline for half the price at audiopile.net Any decent cable won't make a difference at audio frequencies (even cheap crap). What you should be worried about is build quality and good connectors. The Audiopile stuff is good. Their connectors (SLMA Cables) are Neutrik-Style and supposedly just as good as the Neutrik ones themselves.

Members bm1977
I think they are 14 gauge, the cable doesn't say. I will check those audiophile ones. Thanks

XLR cables only handle mic and line-level signals, not speaker. Wire would be a lot smaller, 28ga for example.

Members soul-x
I have had just as good luck with the EWI cord ends as with Neutrik ends. I consider both to be very good connectors. I'd say the choice would come down to if you have a personal preference for Neutrik's product.
