Thanks Chris!

And here we go with Phil's Photos from Winter NAMM 2020. I was only able to attend for a single day this year, and my time was a bit limited, so unfortunately I didn't get as many photos as I usually do, and I didn't get to see everything - my apologies to the companies I wasn't able to visit, and to you, the viewer, for any cool things you wanted to see that I didn't get.

With that aside, let's get this started.

One of the first things I saw was Craig Anderton, along with Gibson's / HC's Dendy Jarrett...

Dendy is growing his hair out again, and won the Rock N Roll makeover of the year award from JC Curleigh, Gibson's new CEO.

This was sitting in the hall outside of the Gibson booth - it's a giant guitar sculpture, made out of guitar parts...

As they did last year, the Gibson booth had demonstrations from some of their luthiers - here's one working on binding...

An Epiphone SG with a Vibrola... also note the revised dove-style headstock shape. This is from Epiphone's new Inspired By Gibson series.

USA made Epiphones? Yes... in the form of Casinos and Texans.

Gibson had a separate (and much quieter) booth dedicated to acoustics this year.

I want one of these cute little Hummingbird ukes...

Speaking of JC, here he is - obscured by glare. Oops. :o

Another picture of JC Curleigh hanging out with Epiphone artist Jared James Nichols, who appears to be holding a Klon. Sorry, I don't recognize the beverage.

More Epiphones.

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_13.jpg

And more Gibsons...

The new Sheryl Crow signature acoustic...

The Epi Lil' Tex looks like a cool little travel-sized guitar.

When I resized the photos to fit on the site, it messed up the sequencing of them, so these are not in the order they were taken - my apologies. :o

This is a shot from over in the acoustic piano room - which is huge and features multiple manufacturers...

I thought these little child-sized acoustic grand shaped digital pianos from Brazil's Digital Acordes were really cute. They sounded pretty good too, and have full-sized keys, but the rest of the instrument is downsized...

When I first went to the Fender booth, they weren't letting anyone other than dealers in, so I had to go back later...

Like I said, out of sequence. This is me, in the latest Gibson throne - this one is also made entirely of guitar parts - including the footrest. I kind of cringed as I was getting into position - standing on guitar bodies is a new and rather uncomfortable experience...

Over at the PreSonus booth, which is upstairs in the new North Hall.

Meanwhile over in the TASCAM booth, I noticed the first signs of a general trend that showed up in more than a few places in the show overall - vintage products on display.

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_9b.jpg

My personal TASCAM 202 is a lowly mkIII - the mkVII was on display at Winter NAMM 2020.

Remember what I said about there being more than a few booths with vintage products on display? TASCAM was the first booth I spotted where that was the case, but they weren't the only ones. But seeing these old Portastudios on display certainly brought back memories...

And of course, there are the modern versions...

Anyone remember the old Models 144 and 244? I never had one - but I did have a 246...

TASCAM was showing a smaller version of the Model 24 and Model 16 SD card recorder / mixers called the Model 12. They've added DAW control capabilities...

The Model 24 really impressed me when I reviewed it...

Logickeyboard had some really cool DAW keyboards on display.

I'll have to go back and see if I can find a better / not blurred image in the Live Photo version on my iPad ... but this is Rick Beato.
