Members bigbang
Currently using an MP415 run passive with one side of an XTI4000 for a wedge (key or drum in small clubs) and it's acceptable. Problem is I need another wedge as I'm working with more bands w/keys/synths these days and would like powered as I have the extra mix but not an extra amp channel. Would the PRX615 get me at least what I'm getting out of the MP415? I'm hoping it would be a step up from the MP series. EV ZXA5 would be closer to my other wedges (qrx112's) but not in the budget right now.
Members RoadRanger
I believe PRX is comparable to MP but would be a step up mostly because it's biamp'd (and a bit newer tech).
Members drumstix
Pretty much what Roadranger said. Should be fine with what you have.
Members Mutha Goose
Do you really need a PRX615 for a monitor? If you look into it a little you may find the 612m to be a better choice.
Members Vinny D
If you want to stay in the EV line with a nice compact powered wedge with a 15" driver check out the EV SXA250.Great sounding cabinet and works well for what you are looking for (I use one for the same applications every weekend) they can be found for $700 shipped.http://www.electrovoice.com/product.php?id=
Members bigbang
Forgot about the sx line. PRX612 may work but if I can get some additional low end out of the 615 it's worth it to me. I assumed he prx would do as well if not better than the 415, but thought maybe someone had experience w/both. Rock on!
Members laidback
but the SX300 would require those little plastic monitor feet to get the right angle. Forgot about the sx line. Members TimmyP
I'd try to find a used MP, just so they all match (can use the same EQ).
