Members BlueGreene
I've seen a few small mackie mixers with a pre-fade-RUDE SOLO button instead of a pre-fade-listen button. Is there a practical use for this button that I'm missing? It seems totally bass ackwards.
CMS Author Craig Vecchione Posted July 19, 2012 CMS Author Share Posted July 19, 2012 My understanding was that it works just like any other pre-fader listen switch, but Mackie's marketing department, which receives 99.845% of all Mackie revenues, decided that a cool edgy name for the button would sell more mixers..... Members WynnD
Mackies are a bit different. That's not bad per-say, but reading their manual is a good idea at least the first time you have to live with one.

I think the only difference between it and most boards is that main meter's PFL indicator LED is larger, brighter, and flashes, hence is "rude." Silly. Members Shaster
As I recall it was an effort to alert the user that a solo button had been engaged. In certain situations, it might be possible to forget that you've hit the solo button. The "rude" feature is supposed to help in that regard. Although judging from this link, they might not have solved it entirely. See second question down. http://www.mackie.com/products/effectsmixers/cfx_faq.html

Given the customer base of these mixers, I have a feeling it was more of a support-team engineered "feature", than a marketing one (as Craig suggested).
