Members Chordite
Just off the top of my head does the necessary moving down the body of the neck pickup from the position 24 "sweet spot" on a 24 fret guitar (I don't have one) affect harmonics and quack? Chordite, are you talking about the issue that Ed Roman was, ahem, very passionate about? http://www.edroman.com/techarticles/22vs24.htm http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/forum/showthread.php?t=982732 https://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=22293.
Members Chordite
Thanks Ratae. Opinions do seem varied. True the 24th fret octave harmonic is only on an open or 12th, though coming via a folk acoustic route I do use open strings by habit. The real puzzle for me was whether the changed spacing would effect the 2 and 4 quack positions or whether quack was not about spacing as such given that all frets can quack. Sorry I didn't read your question properly

The strat quack is possible on the PRS Custom 24 because of the 24 fret pickup position and the 25" scale. This puts the inside coils of the two humbuckers in approximately the same position (harmonically) along the string as the bridge and middle pickups on a strat. I would suspect that on a 24 fret three pickup guitar that there would be some effect as a result of putting the pickups closer together because the harmonics picked up will be slightly different.
