Recommend some guitarists to listen to....

Trying to expand my small music collection a little bit. I'm looking for artists that I can buy on CD. Yes, yes there is Itunes and I use it but over the years I've lost a few songs, and the way it organizes music is a pain in the ass...

I know this is going to be difficult and subjective, but I'll give a listing of guitarists I currently like quite a bit, and if you could recommend seminal albums or artists who have a similar sound, that would be great.

Alex Lifeson, Joe Walsh, Joe Bonamassa, Eddie Van Halen, Santana, Angus Young, Pete Townshend, Stevie Ray Vaughen, Mark Knopfler.....you get the idea...

So if anyone has a recommendation for a great Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Satriani, Vai or some other album....feel free to share your opinion, and I'll consider purchasing it.

thanks

This is easy...Plankton. Or as I call them, The Mighty Plankton. They have every thing you are looking for.

You can check a couple of their tunes out here, Humble Colossus is a killer album, it would be my recommendation to pick it up:

They have a myspace site with more tunes, but their albums are so all over the place go in with an open mind and plan on listening to a few tunes before you find what you're looking for, but that Humble Colossus is a spot on deadringer.

Oz Noy - Fuzzy is a killer album

Steve Morse - Southern Steel

Scott Henderson - Tore Down House

Jeff Beck - Guitar Shop

John Scofield - A Go Go

Jon Finn - Wicked

Larry Carlton - Last Night

Matt Schofield - Heads Tails and Aces

Max Webster - Mutiny up my Sleeve

Tervor Rabin - Cant Look Away

Uzeb - Noisy Nights

Wayne Krantz - Krantz, Carlock, Lefebvre

All these albums had a large influence on me from a purely guitar standpoint. They are not necessarily the artist's best piece but if you dig one of them a great starting point.

Oh, for pretty much a textbook on melodic hard rock solo'ing you have to listen to UFO's "Strangers in the Night"..Michael Schenker is fantastic on that album.

Not sure if you are aware of it but you can listen to just about any music you want (full albums) online for free here: http://music.myspace.com

Just use the upper right search box. The resolution is great on the audio too. I'm going to listen to that UFO album right now since it's been a long time since I've heard it :)
