Members Virgman Posted December 29, 2012 Members Posted December 29, 2012 Practice your licks up and down the neck chromatically. That means start at the 1st fret and go up one fret each time you play the lick. Do this with your scales too. That's my tip. Don't just practice everything at the 5th fret you blockheads.
Members Yer Dad Posted December 29, 2012 Members Posted December 29, 2012 Hmmm. I was always made to do it through the cycleof 4ths5ths. Doing it chromatically is easier to think through, and easier visually too. Going through the cycle (in either direction)means you likely will have to think it through. Also, what about putting ideas on different string sets? That's important too.
