Members phoenix_76
I use a Mesa Quad preamp into a Marshall 9100 power amp (4 x 6L6). The most versatile amp setup I have ever used. The Quad is the best preamp around IMHO. It can do the cleanest of blackface cleans through to full-on Marshall crunch and heavy Mesa distortion. It uses 8 x 12AX7 preamp tubes and contains 2 independent spring reverb tanks too. Has so many features including midi, direct recording out and comprehensive fx loop. Really amazing amp and the only one I would'nt consider selling. I want to get another Quad but they come up so rarely because they are that good and they go for a lot of money now. The studio and triaxis preamps are total pieces of {censored} compared to the Quad.

Yeah but often the simpler the amp circuit- the better the tone.. Which means versatility sacrifices tone.. Id much rather have a 1-2 channel amp + pedals.. Slightly OT I know- but I am assuming you are thinking about getting a 4 channel amp?.
