Members solointroy
I'm looking for that Nashville squish. What's the best compressor for that without having to take out a loan to buy it? Peace
Members whowasthursday
I just got a Guyatone st-2 compressor for $75. Check out the rave reviews at hc, etc. It's also really small, if space on your pedalboard is a consideration.
Members plinky
On the subject of Compressors, my friend is giving me a Boss CS-2. I know this is more sought after than the CS-3 but how much would it sell for?
Members Pigsinzen
Get a cheap used Boss CS-3. Then go herehttp://www.monteallums.com/Product_links.html And buy the opto kit. I did just that, and got a boutique sounding pedal for less than $60.

Members d0zerz
I've got an orange DOD 280 that does a decent job. I paid about half what I did for my tone press....which IS a better comp (the blend is a very nice feature) the 280's a little less transparent, but transparent enough...and there's audible squish unless you really back off the compression...definitely a twangy 'audible attack' kinda thing going on.... It's opamp's a little noisy to use as a clean boost, but you can swap it out (I've heard a very desirable mod). But at pickup volumes or a little louder the noise isn't noticible really.... Members Nephilim-777
If $219.00 isn't over the top... This is the most popular boutique compressor.
Members the figurehead
Marshall "Edward" the compressor. Cheap and versatile. It's the ed-1, I believe.
Members ZJD
Check out the Analogman Compressors too.
Members 667
honestly, all of those compressors are great choices....i've owned the Boss (not nearly as bad as it's made out to be...especially for Nashville tones) and the Analogman Minibicomp (awesome)...BUT...if you want that Nashville squish tone, you really don't need to go spending big $'s on a "transparent" compressor...that classic Nashville tone isn't transparent, it's effected and squashed.....save the money for a sweet set of pickups and you'll do fine with a Dynacomp, Boss, Marshall, DOD......
