Members butterknucket
I've always shied away from this kind of music, but I've been getting into the Boards of Canada lately and really like them. What are some other artists worth checking out?

Members MegaTom
Dude... I know my list will probably run the whole gamut of electronic music, and may at times seem very "Pop"-y and even "Industrial"-ish, neither of which you mention in your question, but regardless: Massive Attack Tricky Portishead Psapp The Bird & The Bee Kraftwerk (!!!) Underworld Faithless cEvin Key Aphex Twin Depeche Mode Front 242 Goldfrapp Juno Reactor Meat Beat Manifesto The Postal Service The Prodigy Lords Of Acid Sneaker Pimps Teddybears Sister Machine Gun B-12 Brian Eno Bedrock Leftfield I think that, for electronica music in general, the Trainspotting soundtrack would be a great place to start, as well as some of the old WaxTrax! compilation CDs - both of which can be found fairly cheaply in a decent used CD bin.... or probably online for free if you do that sorta thing. Members TheHarakiriEnd
I don't think godspeed or post rock counts as ambient although it does have some brooding ambient passages. I would recomend: M83 Boards of Canada Ulrich Schnauss!!! one of the best The Guest Bedroom - their like broken social scene but better Sigur Ros is great If your going to include them though check out Yndi Halda, and Mum Justice William Orbit Amon Tobin - quite possibly my fav electronic artist Boy in Static Aphex Twin Bt Porcupine Tree Zero 7 Robin Guthrie Portishead Dj Shadow Thievery Corporation - These guys are awesome!
