Butterfly - Weezer, Pinkerton

Only in Dreams - Weezer, Blue Album

Good Morning Captain - Slint, Spiderland

The Biggest Lie - Elliott Smith, s/t

I Didn't Understand - Elliott Smith, XO

I like these choices alot. I'd also add:

Street Spirit (Fade Out) - Radiohead (The Bends)

Death is Not the End - Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds (Murder Ballads)

Oh, I love the song, it just doesn;t strike me as a good closing song for the album.

Pretty much all Radiohead albums have great closers. Motion Picture Soundtrack being my favourite for the harp alone.

Pharoah Sanders - Colors(Karma)

The Beach Boys - Surfs Up(Surfs Up)

Neil Young & Crazy Horse - Cowgirl In The Sand(Everybody Knows..)

Charles Mingus - Freedom(Mingus Mingus..)

Talk Talk - Wealth(Spirit Of Edan)

Inspired by HMKRich's thread:
http://acapella.harmony-central.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1773426

I'm always awed by the number of great finales in Rock's album history, probably more so than the openers.

To kick things off:

Tomorrow Never Knows, The Beatles, Revolver

The End, The Doors, The Doors

When The Levee Breaks, Led Zeppelin, IV

Subterraneans, Bowie, Low

Love Is Blindness, U2, Achtung Baby

Soon, My Bloody Valentine, Loveless

The Tourist, Radiohead, OK Computer

An inspired thread, I'd say. ;)

Obsession - Cutting Edge Fore - Delirious?
Mothers of the Disappeared - The Joshua Tree - U2
40 - War - U2
Whipping Post - Live at Fillmore East - The Allman Brothers Band
You Can't Always Get What You Want - Let It Bleed - Rolling Stones
Save Me - The Game - Queen
Free Bird - Pronounced - Lynyrd Skynyrd

Find The River - REM, Automatic For The People. It's simply a beautifully written and recorded song that ends the album on a glorious positive note.

:thu: great song, and probably my all-time favourite album

'Find The river' - R.E.M. / Automatic...
'Machines' - Biffy Clyro / Puzzle
'Now the Action is on Fire!' - Biffy Clyro / The Vertigo of Bliss

'Would?' - Alice In Chains / Dirt
'Indifference' - Pearl Jam / Vs
'Third Eye' - Tool / Aenima

'The Remote Part/Scottish Fiction' - Idlewild / The Remote Part
'Eskimo' - Damien Rice / O
'The Opium Willows' - Ben Christophers / Spoonface

Beatles - Run for Your Life

Converge - Jane Doe

Prince - Purple Rain

Ani Difranco - Joyful Girl

AFI - This Time Imperfect

Radiohead - The Tourist (I know that's under dispute, but I think it caps the album wonderfully)

John Coltrane - Mr. PC

Joni Mitchell - Woodstock (Live, off of "Shadows and Light")

No dispute here

I was so disappointed that they didn't play it at the West Palm Beach show in 2004
Definitely one of my top 5 favorite Radiohead songs.

Ah bummer.

When they played in Boston previewing some of the In Rainbows songs, they soundchecked it, so it was nice to hear that they were including it in the set.

But alas, no "Paranoid Android".

I guess it comes with the territory of having so many good songs to choose from and knowing that some omissions will disappoint people no matter what you decide.
