Members ninjaaron
If no, then what does? I'm looking to replace my fuzz one of these days, but I run a buffer out front, and that's probably not gonna change.
Members cdawzrd
buffers can make it a bit trebly. Best to have it unbuffered. Are you talking about a tuner pedal or a wah? Replace/mod them to be true bypass.
Members murch33
I run mine first in my chain, in front of an RMC2. I've seen them on boards where they weren't first in line, but I've always followed that as a general rule.
Members Kittie Rose
My Wah is true bypass, but I can't use it with my FF. I can use it fine before, but TB obviously doesn't make any difference when it's not being bypassed. Actually, I can use it on SOME of the higher comp/gate settings. Otherwise it sets off the STAB howl. Not sure how to get around it. I'd ask Zvex but he'll just recommend me a Wah Probe No offense, it's a great pedal, but it's not quite what I'm after, I really think the craziness of the BLACK CAT MOAN goes with the Fuzz Factory. If Zvex made a crazy Wah that was cheaper than the probe I'd be all over it, though. But I'd still love my Moan.
Members NITEFLY182
Putting a buffer before a fuzz factory kills everything the fuzz factory is about. Just put your buffer after the fuzz factory and it will sound much better.
Members Collapse
It still sounds fine, but it kills all the awesome {censored}ed up-edness.My experience is that sticking a couple TB pedals in front doesn't hurt it any.

Members zachary vex
Nels told me he likes the control he gets over the FF's texture when he puts it after a buffer or after his Whammy.
Members MacBradley
Mine sits after a whammy, which is FAR from TB. I'll be getting a looper soon and have the option of having a buffer in front soon. The only difference I notice is the volume knob doesn't react the same when you turn down. And as as as I've noticed, the FF doesn't get more trebly or anything like that, I think people are imagining things.
Members zachary vex
Some buffer circuits make the Fuzz Factory sound pretty bad. The SHO sounds pretty good in front of a FF, and I've heard good things about the whammy and some tuners, but yes, you do lose the volume control on the guitar's influence. Members Musickbox
I had a FF for a bit. You have to put it first in the chain. Just sounds best there.

Members Liberty Belle
i have my ffct before buffered pedals and it still changes it a little but its hardly noticeable, after it is just terrible. its no different than any other fuzz i have, after buffered effects sounds like {censored},before is fine. Members justintee
not wanting to thread jack, but what about the wooly mammoth in front of a buffer/SHO? EDIT: actually, curious about the wooly mammoth before and after my superduper2in1..
Members zachary vex
The issue is buffers going into fuzzes, not the other way around. It's very rare that a fuzz going into a buffer will cause problems, but putting a buffer before any fuzz can cause tone character changes. Woollies are exceptionally sensitive to having buffers in front of them... active pickups can be pretty bad, very compressed-sounding.

Members zachary vex
The fuzz factory has a lot of different sounds, but I'm not sure if it's good at imitating anything in particular.

Replace/mod them to be true bypass. The tuner is there, but I could put that after the fuzz no problem. But my OD pedal is also buffered, and I like to boost my fuzz a bit. However, I guess I could just set the Fuzz Factory to a sound that is cool w/o boosting. I just don't like having to turn off my OD and click on the fuzz before a solo. too much tap dancing. I could probably learn it, I'm just lazy.

It comes down to wanting to switch, because boosting the FF is definately NOT needed. That thing will get far aggressive enough on it's own if you'd like. It does sound good with in OD boost infront too though!
Members elxchino
I'm thinking of putting after an octaver so the octaver would track better. Seems like a lose/lose situation if I put the FF before or after though. Any say?

Members elxchino
Was thinking something like compressor > octaver > fuzz factory. Unless that'll make the ff sound like crap. Haven't tried one yet...
