Members zacheryhunter Posted November 14, 2007 Members Share Posted November 14, 2007 The sd-1 is better if you want a mid-boost (like a tube screamer). The od-3 is good if you want a creamier overdrive, without a mid-hump. However, while the od-3 sounded great with my telecaster, it sounded absolutely terrible with my jazzmaster (w/ duncan vintage for jm's in the neck and bridge). Im sure some of the mod kits can fix all of that, though. But, the biggest difference is the sd-1 is more like a tube screamer (with a different clipping style) and the od-3 is more like a smoother overdrive with a a flat (maybe even heavy on the bass) eq. Members ert Posted November 14, 2007 Members Share Posted November 14, 2007 i posted this a few weeks ago and ended up buying the od3 for my brother and i am blown away by it. much better than the sd1 in my opinion. like stated, it does not have the mid hump that the sd1 has which i like the sound of better. od3 all the way!! Members jondale Posted November 14, 2007 Members Share Posted November 14, 2007 i used the OD3 for most of the drive sounds, goosed here and there on either side by a marshall drivemaster and a ts9.I binned my SD-1 and got the OD3. might get another one soon cos they sound so good.
