If you had $1000 to spend on pedals/effects, what would you get?

I don't use pedals much these days, but hypothetically:

Some toneful, but probably expensive overdrive

high-end fuzz

good chorus

Delay

Looper with at least 12 second capability

This all assumes I have the amp (Classic 30) I have now. If I was stuck with a single channel amp, I'd include a distortion pedal in there, probably a Crunch Box. That's one pedal I'm very curious to try.

Well... if we're buying new:

TU-2 - $100

Dyna Comp - $80

Keeley TS-9 - $170

ZVex Fuzz Factory - $300

Fish & Chips - $30

Phase 90 - $80

DL4 - $250

Obviously you could land a bit more if you were buying here. Maybe add a DMM, VOX wah, a SHO, CE-2 ... who knows?

Starting from scratch including a pedel board/case, if someone said, "here is $1000, build yourself a pedal board, what pedals would you buy?

...only 1 grand?...isn't going to go too far...

...first, I'd go the pine board/metal handles route suggested in the above reply, then (all used, of course):

1. Boost: Catalinbread. Sagrado Poblano Picoso (the *fat* green one). $75

2. Distortion/Fuzz: Effector 13. Vintage Fuzz Master. $75

3. Octave: Electro Harmonix(EHX) POG. $215

4. Tremolo: Catalinbread. Semaphore. $125

5. Chorus/Vibe: DLS. Chorus~Vib. $135

6. Auto Wah: Maxon. AF-9. $110

7. Delay: Boss. DD-20. $160

$895, w/$105 for cables

...2 other possibilities to consider for substitution, if for instance you're not a tremolo fan, or if you think you don't need a boost, are:

Phaser: EHX. Small Stone. $50-60

Reverb: Line6. Verbzilla. $90

Hm...

EHX LPB1 $40

EHX Double Muff - $55

EHX NYC Big Muff - $80

Fender Blender - $100

EHX DMM - $300

EHX SMMH - $200

EHX Flanger Hoax - $180

Total; $955, leaving $45 for patch cables.

{censored} i forgot about the pedalboard and cables :(

but seriously, i would get:

tuner - tu2 $100

phaser - phase 90 - $80

wah - crybaby535q $130

distortion - jekyll and hyde $150

eq - boss eq $100

chorus - small clone $80

delay - boss DD6 - $160

:)

the rest for awesome cables, and build your own pedalboard, or get a $200 pedalboard that already comes with cables and powersupply

How do you do the pine board thing? What kind of metal handles? Any pics?

Get a decent sized board that's smooth - Spraypaint it a color of your choice, add some cool cabinet handles, add metal trim around the edges, and finish with strips of velcro and your pedals.

You can also add a raised section on the back to reach pedals better.

I'd go used and I'd get the following...

Skreddy Top Fuel (or FoxRox Hybrid Fuzz if Dave ever releases them)

Skreddy Screwdriver (or Keeley Java Boost)

Maxon OD-820 Overdrive Pro

Maxon DS-830 Distortion Master

Keeley Katana Clean Boost

Analog Man Bi-Chorus

Boss DD-20

If you buy them used and get a fair price for them, you should be able to come in just under $1000. :thu:
