Ah nice one...

It's just their FAQ page kinda makes out we gotta pay our own VAT after it ships...

Tell you what, have you seen their own brand guitars?!?!

if u logon to thomann to their british site they adbritish VAT to the price already....if u had a company with a registered eu-vat number you will pay no VAT at all....

are those the oscar schmidth guitars ? i heard theyre not so good at all.....dont know if pickup change would change that too much.

how much u got to spend kid a ? i can maybe recommend some nice stuff.

this is correct, it's basically the same as buying it in the UK, with all applicable taxes/duties paid....in effect you ARE buying it in the UK (when you buy from the UK site) you are just having it shipped from somewhere else.

The cheaper Harley Bentons are made in China and do reflect the price to me. Some of the more expensive Harley Bentons were Korean made by Shine. Check out this Shine guitar here:

And the Harley Benton equivalent:

Same guitar, same maker, even the same little notch on the headstock, just a different name on the headstock.

It's the same with Peerless guitars. The Peerless website has this guitar on offer:

Compare that to the Johnston 'COuntry Gent' I sold to someone here on the forum last year:

It's pretty much the same guitar. The Peerless has better tuners but the pickups look the same and most of the adornements look the same.

This website here (http://www.blutrade.de/Guitars/Johnson/johnson.html) used to sell the brown Johnson Country Gent I had but doesn't know. I actually wonder if Peerless released a slightly cheaper line (Johnson) over here in Europe simply to test the waters and see how they'd sell and whether it was worth introducing the more expensive Peerless guitars later on.

In the UK, this place sells Peerless guitars. I really like the look of the P-90 equipped hollowbody Songbird.

I'd go for the Korean instruments for that little bit more. Secondhand Shine guitars on Ebay can be had for about
