Members thorology
Moog FTW! I love to have the option af a really thick and juicy tremolo as well. And you can control everything with exp. pedals!

Members Collapse
Moog if you need all the expression/CV stuff. EHX otherwise.
Members Kayzer
dont forget to check out the Glacier from Frantone or the Ringtone from Zvex... I would prefer Moog but seems to be more difficult to figure out good sounds instead of using the EHX FA

Members p3dalwh0re
Are you going to use CV? Do you like Moog gear?I think the Moog sounds terrific. Don't know the EHX. It looks cheap.

Members p3dalwh0re
Probably a good option then, if you don't need the CV...
Members CicadaSilence
Moog if you need all the expression/CV stuff.EHX otherwise. This is the right answer. However, I vote Moog. I love Moog stuff, but I've never liked EHX.
Members Collapse
It's pretty easy to add expression to the Frequency Analyzer too. I can't find it right now but there's a thread somewhere in the Experimentalists Anonymous website about it. http://experimentalistsanonymous.com/stuff/index.html Scroll down, they have some sound samples of it. Members SpectralJulian
The Frequency Analyzer is the cleanest sound ring mod and the filter mode is a nice feature. The MOOG's advantage is that it is more tweakable and has CV.
Members CicadaSilence
I know, I know. It's like {censored}ting on the baby Jesus around here. I do want a POG, though....
Members jorhay1
depends on how one uses a ring mod the moog is clearly the most versatile and is well made.the moog has a lot of external control options.planning on buying a control processor?do you need an external carrier input for your pitch to voltage converter?plan on using your ring mod carrier to modulate another pedal?how many expression pedals do you have? the EH is a very basic, great sounding pedal the most common way (but certainly not the only way) for one to use a ring mod is to tune the the pitch of the internal carrier to the key of the song. on my maestro, i hook up a tuner to the external carrier out, on my snarling dogs its easy to just find the pitch with the pedal by ear, the moog can do both. the EH is with a knob and by ear. the zvex has a great idea of being able to set up each step in a different key so if you want any key you just step to that key like a preset. no carrier out means it must be tuned pretty much by ear before every show. kind of a pain in the ass, but still a great idea. CV and Expression control are two different things. That mod isn't expression control. For me its the ringtone or the FA. I didn't like the moog at all. Members chu2
What about the Copilot Android? $120 for a simple, dirty ring mod that loves boosts and buffers and has an expression out. It's not a frequency analyzer, however, and has it's own distinct sound.
Members jorhay1
Well yeah, but aren't the Moog expression pedals CV? on the moogyup you control the carrier pitch, lfo rate, etc. by varying the voltage with a pedal dont know about the EH mod

Members placebo62
The Moog is worth it for its tremolo sounds alone.
