Members Woody777
I don't need the delays on the RV-3 and I think I would much enjoy the modulated reverb on the RV-5. It seems like the RV-3 is the fave here on the board, what makes it better than the RV-5 if it's not just the delay/reverb combos?
Members TomCTC
I have the RV-3 right now, using it as my main delay.I can tell you that if you don't have any use for the delay part of the pedal, you are far better off picking up a Holy Grail or Verbzilla for dedicated reverb use. Members wacopacco
i love the rv5 for the modulate reverb setting. It sounds full and lush just what i want.
Members echodeluxe
i have the rv5 and i really like it. i feel that it sounds very natural and lush. i love the modulate setting but i think the plate reverb setting is my fave.

Members tatoi
RV-3 can get a huge sound when you're using it on the reverb/delay mode.but the actual reverb is not so big compared to the RV-5.

Members Woody777
So, using the RV-5 in conjunction with my DD-20 should yield pretty good results?
Members Fender&EHX4ever
Never tried the RV-5. The RV-3 plate reverb is quite decent; but I don't like it as much as my Holier or Holiest Grails. The reverbs can get too thin and piercing in some settings.
Members Woody777
And Tatoi... it was your clips that made me want an RV-5 and made me punch myself in the crotch for selling my PS-3.

Members booher
Shameless spam I had to fiddle with the RV-5 a lot in order to get the settings I really wanted. Once I got them though, I did rather enjoy them. I ended up with a holy grail because i liked the simplicity of it. Only bad thing about it is volume drop when it's engaged. A mix knob mod would be killer.

Members orangesix
no vol drop on RV-5.i use both and actually prefer the RV-5 settings.of course the delay+reverb on the RV-3 is one of a kind, but these things are pretty much overpriced IMO. Members tatoi
And Tatoi... it was your clips that made me want an RV-5 and made me punch myself in the crotch for selling my PS-3. haha thanks:) the RV-5 can hurt your ears sometimes, but you can just turn down the tone knob then.I use modulation mode and have all the knobs on max except the tone. and here's an awesome clip by angelhair
Members wacopacco
yea just keep the tone at 9:00 or under.
Members Geno_xl
Thanks for posting this Woody, I'm in the exact same boat as you. I have a DD-20 and I'm trying to decide between the RV-3 and RV-5. I think I'll go for the RV-5 and save the RV-3 for someone who needs the delay on the same pedal. Of course I'll try the rv-5 again in the store before I buy just to be sure:thu:
Members wacopacco
my favorite setting is level -12:00, tone - 9:00, time - all the way up, on the modulate setting. pair that with a dark delay before it and a dmm after it, and you're in ambient heaven
Members echodeluxe
the rv5 is volume drop-less.
Members valvestate
Does anybody notice a slight thinning of sound when you engage the delay mode of your RV-3? And.... care to share a setting that can do a dotted 8 note... is it possible on this pedal?
Members johanwastaken
How is the RV2 compared to these two? I can get a good deal on one of those but if the RV5 is better I'd much rather get an RV5.
Members NetStar
You might be abale to flip a good RV-2for more on eBay. it does have extreeme mA draw, though...
