Any particular reason input and output jacks always go right to left?

a) They all need to go the same way.

b) On guitars played by correctly-evolved folk, the lead tails out the right side.

a) Fair enough, but why this way?

b) This doesn't sound compelling enough...

Either way, just curious. Going back to work before I open up a can of worms..

AFAIK it was not always like this....

"real" vintage pedals had it the other way around, usually located at the top of pedal but instrument left and ampli right!!!

there are also pedals like roland double beat where both jacks were on the left side of pedals!

It's a good thing mutants like Kurt Cobain and Jimi Hendrix were taken out by the government before they could spread anymore of their filthy southpaw genes. What good has any left handed person ever done for music?

i think it should have been left to right, like reading a book and writing (left to right), unless you are chinese or japanese... Also left to right in/out will allow the cable from guitar to effects will not get tangled....most guitarists are right handed anyway, unless you're jimi. Problem is guitarists are old fashion, mojo believing people are "making sense" is not always a priority.

its to match the earths rotation. the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. otherwise you couldn't play for longer than a few minutes without getting 60 cycle hum from off-axis sunspots
