Members bluehuricane
bad idea? i have 2 eminence stonehenges in my speedster and i've always wanted to try a blue in tandem with it since it's sort of a hybrid between a vox and a marshall... would it be a horrible idea to mix these? the cab is wired in series at 16 ohms. also, the amp is switchable 20/40 watts
Members jrkirkish
You're about to blow a blue.
Members moctzal
You're about to blow a blue. Yup. In a 2 speaker combo/cab you can only use double the wattage of the lowest rated speaker (the wattage is split evenly between the two speakers in theory). So if one of your speakers in an Alnico Blue, it's rated 15 watts, so double that is 30 watts. That's your limit.
Phil O'Keefe
It's do-able if you would limit the amp use to the 20W setting, but I wouldn't really recommend it as a speaker combo for that amp.

Members moctzal
Or the Alnico Gold from Celestion.
Members booher
I always thought that if you ran two different speakers they would run at the lower ones wattage...meaning you'd run your 75w speaker at 15w. And that means that you would be running 20w into 30w of power. Which won't blow your speakers. 40w won't either, but you should be advised not to crank it. Members moctzal
but the gold is $300. True. But he was talking about the Blue which costs just as much.
Members saktr-iyko
no problem, the extra power will "trickle down" to the weaker speaker
