So it's about time to take a little break before I start my new job. I have about 10 days from now. Willing to get to somewhere in Europe for about a week, but as you all know (or feel) it's probably too cold at this time of the year.

Any recommendations ?

My brother went to an island off the southern coast of Greece and loved it. I would say Greece if you are going to Europe. Ibiza does look pretty cool, too. Personally, I would go to St. Johns US Virgin Islands, bring a mask, fins, and snorkel, and spend my time snorkeling around Trumpet Bay or sitting in the shade.

I manage a hotel in Costa Rica and it is nice and warm here now. Plus the air fare is a lot cheaper than going to Europe (that is if you live in N.A.). Here is the website: www.villaselbosque.com

There is a lot of great stuff to do down here: hiking, surfing, para sailing, snorkelling, scuba diving, atv trails through the jungle, laying by the pool doing nothing......

PM me if you are interested.

I have been to Europe many times, sometimes in winter, and it is wonderful. There are very few tourists - virtually none from America. There is plenty to see and do, without the crowds and long lines that appear in the summer. Prices are lower, too.

Paris, Rome, and London are all great cities, and if you stay a week you can rent an apartment and save lots of money vs a hotel.

In Paris, try:

In London, the same people operate:

For apartments in Rome, see:

I have rented from all of these people and can recommend them.

If Paris, London, or Rome don't interest you I would strongly suggest Prague and Munich. Go to Prague for 3 - 4 days or so - it is truly a magical place any time of year. From Prague, it is easy to catch a train to Munich where Bavaria and the Alps are at your doorstep.

Enjoy!

-If you've a taste for the cold country-ride Norway's Hurtigruten line down the coast from Kirkenes in northern Finnmark county just west of the Russian border down to Bergen. It takes six days/five nights and the boat makes thirty four stops enroute to deliver mail, autos, supplies and miscellany and still provides a comfortable trip, private cabins and good food along the way. Nights are still long and cold this time of year, however, and you'd be north of the arctic circle until somewhere south of Tromso. If you don't speak Norsk much or at all Norway is still a good place to visit. Dress warm! The trip can be done in the opposite direction and takes a day longer going north. Round trip from Bergen is a full thirteen days. http://www.world66.com/europe/norway/hurtigruten/practical_informat
