Members NT Hunter
Currently, I've been running a DS-1 (haters gonna hate) into a Jet City JCA20, and it nails a pretty good grungy sort of distortion tone, but not much otherwise, really. It's sort of a one trick pony in that respect, though it cleans up decently. I need something smoother and thicker than what the DS-1 does. I'm thinking a Big Muff clone, or something similar. Any reccomendations? I'm hoping to spend under $100, but I could probably go up to $140-150.
Members soulsonic
If you only want to spend around $100, you can always get a current production EHX Muff. The NYC Muffs show up used for way under $100 all the time.
Members claytonjohn18
If you want a great muff, look at www.stompunderfoot.com . If you want an ok muff, buy the current issue EHX muff.
Members Jules-RM
Why not try the big muff with tone wicker? It's cheaper than that. I don't know how you could consider a Muff being "smooth" tho.

I don't know how you could consider a Muff being "smooth" tho. Dammit, I have no idea how I wrote "smooth" there. I totally did not mean to put that. I meant to write "heavier", actually. What a wierd slip of the tongue/finger. Though I am looking for somthing less cutting and trebley than the DS-1.

I've heard about them multiple times, but I have never heard what the actual difference is between them.

Members SpectralJulian
Maybe this is me, but of all the new EHX Big Muffs I've played, I think the Little Big Muff > Tone Wicker Muff > Bass Big Muff > NYC Muff

Members soulsonic
I didn't like the Little Big Muff when I tried it. Too mushy for my taste... but that might be what you want. I recommend going to a local store that has current EHX ones in stock and doing an in-person comparison.
