Members -Norge-
Barber Tone Press all the way..Excellent quality, True bypass, Blend knob. Extremely Transparent. Inexpensive(ish). This is the answer to all your problems.
Members AluminumFalcon
Personally I'm a huge fan of Ross compressors and higher end clones of it. Having said that, I don't have that much experience with opto based compressors.

Members Kap'n
I just bought an MXR Custom Comp. I like it a lot, even without messing with the trimpots. I hate regular dynacomp/ross/keeley compressors. Far too squishy. The Custom Comp isn't nearly as ham-handed.
Members Poltergeist
i like the Custom Comp too. especially for bass, that's where it excels really.
