Members boytbpc
Analog delays vary a lot depending on the filter, from the Carbon Copy, which is very dark, to the Deluxe Memory Man, which is very bright. Having owned the Carbon Copy, the Analogman ARDX20, and a big box DMM, I have to say that the relative darkness/brightness of a delay is neither a good nor a bad aspect, but you need to know what you want and what you are getting. Personally, I really like my ARDX20 with Amazeo controller. Add an expression pedal and an external footswitch and you have an extremely flexible delay. Members KRAA!!
The Ibanez AD80 is the best I've used. Running on 18 volts, it has a very strong output, can't be overloaded, and has a 100% wet setting. The Boss DM-2 and DM-3 sound weak to me in comparison. Members Hurtzher
Im using a Montevillian and an old Ibanez AD99 analog delay. The Montevillain is digital, but it has a nice analog sound to it. It colors your tone a skooch, but in a good way.
Members arthurdent'd
The DMM is so good. Big box or gtfo of course.went with the XO, have owned several big boxes in the past, there is very little difference to my ear.
Members MegaMustaine
I guess I'm not really sure if I want a bright or dark analog delay sound, so that's a good question. I'll do some research, seems like a carbon copy is a pretty affordable but solid option.
Members GREC
If you got a $1000 to blow go for the Fulltone tube tape echo. The real deal. The Empress Vintage Modified Superdelay is awesome. TC Alter Ago is good too. Beware the Memory Boy -it DOES NOT sound like the old EHX Memory Man. Can do the same thing, but very muffly returns. Not a bad pedal but I was disappointed....and I love EHX stuff. Go with the JOYO Digital Delay if you only want to spend $50 -it has the characteristics of older analog delays. True bypass too.
