Members Elliott Jeffries
I don't understand why "this is water" tells us to accept a chronic situation by looking at it differently instead of thinking about how to get out of it. In the example shown in the video, the not having time to do shopping could've been avoided with time management. The idea of choosing how you think is classic self help psychology but it has to be followed through with action that ends up with results. Members AngelofHop
Awesome video, it didn't seem to work for him. Sooner or later you will find yourself in similar situations, no matter how you manage your time.
Members Elliott Jeffries
True enough, our lives can seem out of control, at times. But the premise of the "this is water" video is that helplessly standing by is our common fate. Why not give a commencement speech about how to avoid this predicament by telling young people how to get control of their lives and acheive their dreams? Probably because most people wouldn't listen. So much easier to look around and try to make the best of your situation. Better than nothing, I suppose.
