I haven't smoked weed in 7 years.......well the other day I had a weak moment and took 3 hit off of a water bong. (Man it was great......but stupid) The bad part is I get randomly drug tested at my job. I have been tested 3 times in the last 3 and a half years so it isn't like it happens a lot but I am still worried. The only notice I get is for 2 hours the morning they pop it on me. So my question is this: If I smoked on this past Friday should it be out of my system by Tuesday since I don't smoke a lot? It is very unlikely that I will get drug tested anytime soon but I am still worried. It was fun but definitely not worth losing my job over. So if you have any advice I would appreciate it. Thanks. Members Cas Posted October 10, 2005 Members Share Posted October 10, 2005 thc usually takes about 2 weeks to leave your urine. if you wanna be safe and sure go to a GNC and pickup a bottle of strip(or is it stripe?). it costs 50$ but will clean you out over night. i had to use it for a surprise test for my job last summer. Depends on how much you smoke and what kind of test you take. MOst lab tests will {censored} you. Or they did me. Cheaper tests like the ones you get on probation are easy to pass with the help of some detox like Zydot, which you can pick up at your local head shop. As for Peavey5150, If thats the only time you have smoked in 7 years, I would not worry. If you get tested in the next month and are feeling paranoid, get a bottle of detox. The thing is, you're supposed to drink 3 hours before testing. And, detox only masks the drug for a period of time, so drinking it today, and then getting tested 2 days later wont help. Nothing personal, but how is your body fat? It stores there. Go get a good work out. Drink water and cranberry juice to help flush. (it won't do much for fat-stored substances). Get some vitamins...and Klear, which is basically an overdose of B12 that works to help clear out and hide it. It's really too bad. For most jobs and careers, thsi personal control is uneccessary. Eat lots of meat and start exercising, but the real answer is the 30 day rule. I'm in the military and get piss tests all the time AND I don't touch {censored}. I say tests because most drug free workplace testing utilizes two methods of testing. The first test uses enzyme linked immuno-assay (ELISA) techniques to detect the presence of broad categories of substances, e.g. ecgonine derivatives (cocaine), amphetamine like substances (this includes pseudoephedrine), specific classes of opiates, cannabinoids, etc. You can't hide anything from this technique - the only thing you can do is cause false positives. ELISA is pretty non-specific and mainly serves as an inexpensive screening to identify poeple who just don't have anything in their urine. But, if a sample does tests positive for any of the substances screened for by ELISA (many things are not screened for by ELISA - many employers choose to omit certain substance due to cost concerns, a common example is benzodiazepines) then another portion of the sample is tested via gas chromatography mass spectroscopy (GCMS). This gives an exact qualitative match (i.e. it says 'pseudoephedrine' or 'methamphetamine') and it gives a quantitative value (i.e. how much of the stuff was actually present in the sample, by concentration.) GCMS can recognize any specific chemical that the machine has been programmed to detect. The lists of substance in the database of most GCMS devices is HUGE - again, no oral product can beat them. Due to the amazing exactness of GCMS is can detect ridiculously small quantities of drugs - yes, eating poppy seeds can cause a GCMS to detect the presence of opiates. That is where threshold values come in. All drug free workplace testing is required to employ theshold levels. Meaning that you can test positive by ELISA and the sample then gets GCMS and may even indicate the presence of an illicit substance but if the quanititative level does not exceed the threshold established by the program then it will be considered a false positive. That's why the excuse of 'I was at a concert and everyone around me was smoking dope, but I never took a hit' or 'I ate a poppy seed bagel this morning' just does not wash. The threshold levels are usually set remarkably high. Meaning that if your sample exceeds the threshold then it is damn clear to everyone involved that you have ingested enough of the stuff to get you stoned. What this all means for you is that 'the solution to pollution is dilution." If you get tapped for a random then the first thing you need to do, if possible is void your bladder then begin drinking large amounts of water. You cannot get rid of the drug present in your body any faster than normal your goal is simply to drive down the concentration present in any sample you need to supply. If you are at a place that taps you n the shoulder then escorts you to the test your best bet is keep your water glass full and your bladder empty. They woke us up one day and bussed us to work after we'd been asleep for 4 hours or so so we could be tested. No warning in advance, we didn't know why they woke us, and what's the first thing you usually do when you get up in the morning? In my case and everybody else's that day, the answer was piss. So we get in there and they hand us these Big Gulp cups like you get at 7-11 and told us to fill them. Fill them on one go, and if you couldn't you had to stay there and try again until you could. And of course they had a high ranking NCO almost literally watching your dick while you're doing it, and some guys are not good at urinating with an audience. They get bladder lock. And all of us with empty bladders to begin with. So the trick was to wait just long enough until you felt you had a reasonable shot at it so you could go back to sleep as quickly as possible. I almost lost the stream three quarters of the way through but I was able to rally and top off the cup. It was a near thing. Just another day in service to my country. I own a business, I do not want people that do drugs working for me. Period. I am in construction and I'm so mother {censored}ing sick and tired of druggies and alcoholics that I have zero tolorance for this {censored}. I don't pay people to show up with half a {censored}ing brain. I am paying for the hole brain and I expect that. My guys show up with a hangover or I smell booze on them, goodbye, get the {censored} out. As employers, it is our responsability to provide a safe atmosphere for other employees. Also, as business owners, it is our responsability that our employees do not harm the public. The insurance we pay is skyrocketing and we want our exposure as low as possible. For what it's worth, I bought and sold horrific amounts of weed back in the day. There was no drug testing where I worked and I did wake and bake every single day of my life. Yes, we have spotter's the look at pee pee. It's just good discipline. You have to be sober at work and drugs are not tolerated. I totally agree with testing.
