Members MxOvd
Grabing those heavy breasts a few times would help me play with heavier strings as well

Members -=MYK=-
I beat the {censored} out of 11s when I had them. They WERE tuned to standard. It's only too much tension if your weak little hands can't push 'em.If strings is breaking, you need to check yo sef and the setup on yer gitah! Members Rawchannel
Just made the move to standard tuning from 1/2step down using 11's. Love it.
Members pol
i always use 011 too, tuned too Eb, feels perfectly fine here, and no problem bending either.

Something I have considered, but I am not sure how I feel about going to 1/2 step. Some of the "drone chords" (I dont know what they're called, some open strings, some closed) would definitely get a different quality to them. That's my favorite kind of playing rhythm-wise too. Meh, it's definitely something to consider since i frequently sing and I do have a low voice.

Members JimH
I use .11's on my 25.5" scale in standard. No string breakage here, and I alot of string bending. Lower gauges just feel weak to me. +
Members book_of_lies777
I use 11-50 GHS Boomers on all my guitars: Strat = E standard Tele = E standard LP = C# standard you'll get used to it - I LOVE 11s, but I don't think I'd go any higher, speaking only for myself, of course. Members Nutter
Mmmm Keeley Hazell.... Uh... anyway strings. I think .11s might just be a tad too much for standard. That's just me though. I play .10 - .46 in Eb.
Members lostandfoundpdx
i play .11s 1/2 step down on all my guitars, ut they are all gibson scale. i keep 10's on my tele, but that's cuz i don't play out with it, it's mostly for dinking around on at home. the .11s felt too rigid on that guitar for me, but, as usual, it's all personal preference. Members AgentOrange
I sed to play 11s in standard all the time, did it that way for years and all my guitars are 25.5" scale. I liked the fact i could really knock 7 bells out of them without them going all flabby. Since then ive gone back to lighter strings, but i still like them from time to time. I went up to 13s once before, but that was silly and they didnt really sound very nice, no brightness at all They really strengthen your hands too, which can only be a good thing James

I play more on my acoustic than electric so I think I'll have the hand strength (or be able to build it).
Members handofthehost
11's are the bomb. I converted all my guitars a few years ago and haven't looked back. I found when setting up for 11's I was actually able to lower the bridge from it's '10' height without buzzing out. The added tension helps with truss rod action as well, allowing a little more back and forth between the strings and truss rod. I've tried 12's though and didn't like them. Unless someone's detuning, I don't recommend anything thicker than 11-50's.
Members exafro
If you have big enough frets, bending a full step shouldn't be a problem. I can bend almost 2 steps and the strings won't break. I haven't tried going farther than that because I never need to.
