OT:Lakota Indians Withdraw Treaties Signed With U.S. 150 Years Ago

the Lakota treaty was forced upon the Sioux with the fear of, if they didnt sign it they would lose all of their lands including the badlands...

 

however the Sioux never actually signed away the rights to their lands which makes the treaty illegal and invalid..

 

so that news story should be taken with a grain of salt,

I'm just surprised that it doesn't have that FOX "stank" on the story. Seems to be fairly non-judgemental for a piece like that.

Where do you stand on Indian Casinos? How about being a sovereign nation and having your own set of laws? How about tax laws and how they apply to Indian people and organizations? How about charters schools funded by tax-payers that are specifically designed for Indian youth?

i dont understand how are they establishing a country on US Soil. Do they just claim their reservations are now seperate from the US. and you need a passport to enter one?

 

No, I think since they backed out of the treaty they want all the land in said treaty back. Not gonna happen but its cute that they try.
