tranformers ain't exactly cheap, but for the most part yes this is very true.Relatively little. But even transformers aren't backbreaking, really. An OT isn't going to "set you back three years' savings".

Congratulations and good luck with everything. If you're feeling overwhelmed by gear maintenance and expense, and would rather focus on developing your musicianship, then I'd humbly suggest that used amps with vacuum tube technology and no warranties are not your best option. Last thing you want is to buy something that will blow up and set you back three years' savings. If you buy a tube amp it should come with a good warranty. Just my two cents. I'm not going to try to sell you on solid state but if you're going to the store I'd try to keep an open mind and just try everything. Cheap entertainment. There's not a damn thing in an old Fender tube amp that can't be fixed or replaced for relatively little money.

Classics are great classic rock amps. I think the Classic 30 should be in the working musician's amp hall of fame, if there were such a thing. I don't know if you're into the head + cabinet thing but if you are, the Classic 30 head sounds great thru a nice cab. I have one and it screams thru a good sounding cab. You can usually pick one up for around $250.For sure. I have a Classic 30 head (modded for 8 ohms instead of 16) through a 1x12 loaded with an Emi Cannabis Rex. It's my cute little micro-stack that is *HOLY {censored} LOUD*. Great cleans, awesome amp overdrive.

I agree. i forgot to add that you should definitely be looking for a SF over a new Fender.

I have not had experience with any of the amps listed in the OP. Sorry. But I currently play a silverface Bandmaster Reverb and a silverface Bassman Ten. I have also owned a mid-90's Prosonic. I wish I had never sold that Prosonic. Fantastic amplifier. All the points made above about Fender cleans, reverb, and ability to take pedals are absolutely true. You typically won't find a huge crunch on a Fender amp (aside from Prosonics, Supersonics, etc.), but you can get any distorted sound you want from a pedal anyway.
  6. ^^^^ What they said. Just find a damn guitar you can enjoy playing, and play it.
  7. For sale: Traynor YBA-200 bass head. Hi guys. I have an all-tube Traynor YBA-200 bass amp up for sale. Asking price is $500. This thing sounds really good. I've used it with an Ampeg 4x10, and the volume is enough to shake the foundations, and it has that awesome, juicy tube tone. Features include: 3-band passive EQ, gain and master volume, a defeatable scoop control, presence, range, and direct out (can be switched so that it's pre-amp only, or after the power section.) It's also switchable and compatible with 4 or 8 ohm cabinets. There are one or two tolex scratches, but no tears. It's in really good cosmetic shape, and works perfectly. I've had a ball playing this amp out. Its sound is huge and meaty, and really punches through the mix. Tubes: 4 6550's power tubes, 2 12AX7 and 1 12AT7 preamp. Pics follow. Feel free to contact me with any questions.

  9. Ah. A die-hard Defender For Life. No wonder you're so unpleasant. Edit: "Within 10 business hours." It's been 8 days. No defense is possible.
  10. Sympathy? I neither want nor need it. In fact, check your avatar. That about covers it.
  11. Wuss. Pick up the phone and call them. This costs you what maybe 20-30 mins on hold? Email has always been a joke as far as support goes. I had to call them for a firmware downgrade, I got someone on the phone in under 20 mins and an email fixing the problem within the hour. We can also be reached at 1-800-750-0323 between 9am and 6pm Monday through Friday CST.How extremely unhelpful. I work.
  12. So I bought a PreSonus Inspire 1394 interface the other day. Price was good, and it should be good for cleanly recording a couple of tracks at a time. Well, I got it home, and couldn't make the headphone out work. Nothing but dead air. I read their FAQ's, searched their forums, tweaked my system setup 90 ways from Sunday, etc. Nothing. So, in due time, I shot an email to Customer Support. As soon as I sent it, I got an auto-reply that said: Thank you for contacting PreSonus Tech Support. Your email has been received and will be replied to within ten business hours. It was Sunday, so no biggie. I knew I'd have to wait until Monday. Monday rolls around. No response. Same for Tuesday. Wednesday arrives, and I sent them the following: I thought you guys had a "10 business hours" policy on tech support. It's been 3 days. No response. It's now Monday. I sent the following a few hours ago: It has now been a week and one day. Why have you not contacted me? If I do not hear from them by the end of the day, this thing is getting boxed up and sent back, and I will never buy another PreSonus product, for any reason. Just a heads up.
